7 – Human Behavior

The need for counseling, psychological and psychiatric treatments, and on occasion in-house treatment for psychosocial behavior contribute significantly to the national cost of health care.   In no way could this mapping program be used to effectively eliminate the need for such care, even for specific sections of the population.  However, it does provides us with insights into these population subgroups thereby making it possible for better programs to be established.

Map on the left depicts events, right map is independent (non-krigged) prevalence (IP).

Events like the Columbine event in Colorado lead us to wonder where else could this happen?  I removed to Colorado and was there when the 5th year since this tragedy    became local news.  The exact psychiatric makings of a person leading up to such an event are hard to fathom.  The above three diagnoses are few of many that could be linked to such an event.  NPHG in this case enables you to merge and map the various types of behaviors and diagnoses researchers might wish to try correlating to such happenings.

Sociopathy could be one of the toughest human behavior patterns to ever develop a sufficient predictive modeling techniq for. (E979 is bioterrorism.)

E979.* — Terrorism/Bioterrorism

This Emergency Room diagnostics code is used to signify the link of the medical case to terrorism or terrorists.  The decimal position defines the type of behavior engaged in during the event, such as .

Due to the rarity of this behavior and its documentation in the medical records, it is possible that for the time being the data mapped here are not well representative of the national standards of expectations by the anti-terrorist program.  The one valuable insight it does provide pertains to the description of patients who are given this coding in their medical records.

The following is an age-gender review of the subclasses of E979.*.
